Dylan Owen is a New York rap artist with his own brand of confessional, heartfelt storytelling. Out of the sleepy small towns of Orange County, New York he has become a beacon of light for tens of thousands of ardent listeners who come from towns such as these and beyond; who turn to his songs of introspection and wonder and struggle as a soundtrack to their lives, and a kind of navigation device. Dylan’s albums capture the ongoing story of his life through technical raps filled with vulnerable lyrics — blending alternative rap, pop, and folk — which results in a sound wholly his own where neither DJ scratches nor a live violin or trumpet are out of place.
His distinct, poetic rap songwriting has generated press comparisons to alternative icons Conor Oberst and Elliott Smith, and he has collaborated with rap peers Abhi The Nomad, Watsky, Abstract, Ceschi, and Kinetics & One Love. Dylan Owen has opened stages for Mac Miller, Ceschi, Dillon Cooper, Logic, Wiz Khalifa, billy woods, and Spose. He has landed sync placements on WWE Smackdown! and MTV and received praise in the press from Paste Magazine, DJ Booth, Huffington Post Live, TedX and HotNewHipHop.
Through direct to fan mixtapes and fan-facing efforts, such as grabbing coffee with his listeners at each of his tour dates at his Coffee with Dylan sessions, giving a TedX talk about being an independent artist, producing an art and poetry zine in collaboration with his fans called Document Everything, cultivating a vibrant Dylan Owen Discord server with hundreds of members, and pressing his albums to vinyl and cassette to sell direct to fans through his merchandise line ‘Nowhere Kid from a Nowhere Town,’ he has fostered a deeply engrossed and active community that sell out his shows, tattoo his lyrics, buy merch from every drop (from which the proceeds benefit mental health causes), and compose thousands of heartfelt social media messages. What sustains Dylan is his ongoing quest to carve out meaning from his journey for himself and others, and to give it away so that it might empower his listeners, who prove to him time and time again that There’s More To Life. Dylan's new mixtape launches this summer with a co-headlining tour with Abstract across the midwest.
